GEOLOGICAL HISTORY

The 22” and 27” Block Rock originates from the sandstone strata located within the Mowry Formation. This particular sandstone contains quartz, which contributes to its exceptional hardness and durability. The Mowry Formation was created during the Upper Cretaceous period, roughly 145 million years ago. According to MBMG, the sandstone layers in the Mowry Formation are characterized as very fine- to fine-grained sandstone beds that are highly silicified, resulting in extremely hard quartzite.
